The Lake County Women's Coalition (www.lakecountywomen.org) held its annual Women's Equality Day program at Robert Morris University in Waukegan on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.  This year's program was a panel discussion about current issues that affect women.  The panel members were from some of the organizations that are included in the coalition. Barbara Joan Zeitz is a women's history historian, author, and AAUW member.  She spoke about the obstacles women overcame to acquire the vote and the remaining problems in achieving equity.   Cheryl Hudson-Jackson is Director of Operations and Human Resources at the Waukegan YWCA as well as owner of a consulting firm.  She spoke of the need for families to know their history as well as the importance of quality child-care and the need to remind our legislators of its importance.  Rosemary Heilemann is a member of the board of directors of the League of Women Voters - Lake County and of the LWV-Deerfield Area.  She explained the League's interest in getting citizens involved in their government and about the League's work against recent efforts in several states to make voting more difficult.  The moderator was Coalition President Debbie Larker who also read questions from the audience at the end of the presentations.
