False Confessions: Do They Happen? How? Why?
A Panel Discussion with Juan Rivera, Jed Stone and Rob Warden

Juan Rivera, Jed Stone and Rob Warden will participate in a panel discussion titled, "False Confessions: Do They Happen? How? Why?" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel at Lake Forest College.

Juan Rivera is a former inmate who was convicted on the basis of a false confession. He was recently released after 19 years in prison when the Appellate Court overturned his 1993 rape and murder conviction of 11-year-old Holly Staker. Jed Stone is a criminal defense attorney and Rob Warden is the Executive Director of the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law.

This event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lake County, Lake Forest College Ethics Center, Lake Forest College Politics Department, Lake Forest College Legal Studies Program, and AAUW Waukegan Area Branch. The public is welcome to attend.
